Thanksgiving was celebrated in Salem this year! Jon picked me up from work Wednesday night and we left from there and headed to Auburn where we'd spend the night. We left the next morning with Katelyn as an added passenger and made it to Salem in time for a quick romp through the fields behind my parents house with the dogs before everyone (Jon's parents and Kenneth) arrived and it was time to sit down for a delicious meal!
After dinner, we busted out the games. Balderdash is always good for a laugh, especially when Kenneth and Katelyn are involved. They came up with some pretty awesome answers. After that, it was a few rounds of pit, in which Kenneth claimed we were cheating, but really we were just trying to help him out :)
The next day we went for another stroll and had a late and leisurely breakfast (blueberry lemon sweet rolls for the win!). Katelyn and Jon had a quick round of our Star Wars card game, but unfortunately the dark side prevailed :) Soon after Jon's family left, Andy, Kenneth's boyfriend arrived from Portland. The guys hung out and took the dogs to the river while mom and I got her long awaited birthday present- pedicures! It was awesome. Her toes are still very sparkly :)
On Saturday we went out into nature. The six of us headed to Silver Falls, a park just outside of Salem with some nice hiking trails and ten waterfalls. We didn't get to all ten, but we saw a few and had a nice albeit a bit chilly picnic lunch there before heading back. Andy left soon after we got home and then there were five.
We played some chicken foot that night with Kenneth (who won), he left shortly after that, and then there were four. The next day was pretty relaxed. We hung out a bit and then went under the bridge to help provide some food for the homeless with mom and dad's church. We drove back Monday and ended our Thanksgiving holiday!
(Sadly, I forgot my camera during the holidays and forgot to steal other people's pictures. Better luck next time...a few were taken and posted on facebook by family- check those out.)
