Shortly before we left for Europe, we got a call that Grandpa Reynolds had passed away somewhat unexpectedly. Family wanted to wait till we were back from our trip, and were able to plan the service with plenty of time. So, Kenneth and Andy, Mom and Dad left on a Saturday and that following Friday, Katelyn, Jon and I left for California to go to the memorial service. May was a busy month. It was a short trip, since we'd been gone from work and Katelyn had class and stuff. We arrived Friday afternoon, spent some time with everyone, and then went to the church to rehearse the song we would do the next day. All the cousins (and spouses) were going to sing "I Want Jesus to Walk with Me" during the service. We also had a nice walk around Grandma's house, crossed a ditch and hopped a chain link fence. Apparently it used to be easier when they were younger? Saturday morning, we got up bright and early since we were trying to stay on Michigan time. Good excuse to head to the gym! We went to church, then a quick stop back at home for lunch, then back to church for the memorial service. It was a really nice service and it was nice to hear so many great things about Grandpa and see so many people there to support Grandma. Saturday evening included a couple of games, A Fake Artist Goes to New York and Deep Sea Adventure. Breakfast was at Denny's the next morning in honor of Grandpa. More time with everyone back at the house and then it was back to the airport. It was a quick trip, and a sad reason for the trip but it was so nice to see everyone, especially Grandma and the cousins and cousins' kids we rarely get to see. We will miss you and your positive spirit and funny quirks Grandpa. We look forward to being back on the West Coast (#westcoastbestcoast) someday where it will be a bit easier to see everyone on a regular basis.
