We've had some exciting events going on in the SM office these past couple of months! First off, for the month of October, we started out a new fundraiser...flamingos! We got 50 plastic flamingos, split them into two flocks and put them in a couple people's yard (some VPs, the Provost, the President, etc. hehe) and it took off from there! Once someone was flocked, they could say they didn't want to participate and please remove them, or please remove them and they'll donate to the SM program, and a third option was to have them sent on to someone else! So with lots of driving around on my part to the various neighborhoods of Berrien, we've raised about $1,800 from these feathery friends! They've been so popular we just kept them going right on into November! People could also pay $15 to have a flock sent to someone. It went so well we ended up having to split the flocks up even more into 3 flocks so we could get to everyone's house!

The next big thing we had was doing the service at One Place, both first serve and second serve. We got returned SMs to do song service, two returned SMs gave testimonies, and Chap Price spoke. Afterwards, the SM club had a much anticipated event, an international potluck! Returned SMs brought lots of cultural food for all of us to enjoy and fellowship over. It was lovely.

Most recently, we had our Missions Chapel. Usually we have a returned SM speak and we have a Q&A panel with returned SMs, which we did this year as well, but we also had a lovely addition to the event! I gathered all the returned SMs I could find and we had a flag processional at the beginning of chapel where they carried the flags of the countries where SMs have served. It was pretty cool to see and I hope it becomes a yearly tradition for Missions Chapel! Our next thing will be Dec. 1 when we have a club event packing Christmas care packages for current SMs and we'll also skype with a few of them! Stay tuned for more updates from #austudentmissions!
