Katelyn, (Jon's sister), had a very long Christmas vacation this year (thanks WWU!) so she decided to spend a few days enjoying the island life with us! We met in Seattle after seeing a movie with her and her parents on Sunday night, and then Monday was our big adventure! We set off in the car from Whidbey Island the four of us, drove up through Fidalgo Island, and caught the ferry to San Juan Island. It was a nice large ferry, and was quite noisy and scary down below on the car deck, so we took Gromit out for his first ferry ride and boy did he have fun! He loved it when I held him and let him look over the side! We arrived at San Juan Island and browsed the shops of Friday Harbor. All three of us found some books to buy at the used bookstore, warmed up with some hot drinks, and then we drove to the other end of the island to see the Sculpture Park! It was pretty cool, with over 100 sculptures spread out over a rustic 19 acres.

Once on Orcas, we quickly headed to the middle of the island to see the 2nd largest state park in Washington, Moran St. Park, before the sun quickly set. We saw Mountain Lake and took a quick stroll through the woods (where Gromit had his first taste of snow) before heading into town to browse the shops and find some dinner.
