The day after whale watching was our first day of packing, and we made a fair bit of progress. That evening, we had our final soup night (sad face), and played 7 Wonders, Great Dalmuti, and RoboRally.
Wednesday and Thursday were kind of a blur, mostly with packing. We did managed to play some more games in the evening though, EcoFluxx, Takenoko, Takaido, and Pandemic Dice Game. We also had one more game night with friends, Catan with Camels (aka Traders and Barbarians),
Friday we took a little field trip to Meerkerk Gardens, and though it was the end of the season and a bit dreary it was still pleasant. Also during that week we had a grooming appointment for Gromit, 2 dentist visits, final piano and violin lessons and prayer meeting.
Saturday we had an emotional final Sabbath at church, filled with lots of gifts and hugs and warm fuzzies and delicious food. We miss that church. After church we went to "our" beach, Joesph Whidbey, and the dogs had a nice romp on the sand. Later in the evening, our friend Marcus took us on a tour of the Whidbey Naval Air Station, specifically where he works in Air Traffic Control, which was pretty cool.
We tried to have an early night that evening because Sunday was an early and busy day. We were going on a church outing to the San Juan Islands! Actually, just the one, but it was a full day! We started out at American Camp and hiked around a bit, then headed back to Friday Harbor for lunch, where our family found an awesome cafe where the dogs could join us on the patio. We then continued along the coast, hitting Lime Kiln State Park, Smallpox Bay, English Camp, Statue Park (our favorite!) and Roche Harbor. We grabbed some Mexican food to go and enjoyed it on the ferry while resting our tired feets. The dogs and us were pretty tired after that long but fun day.
Monday...moving day! Bright and early, once again, the movers arrived at 8am (or maybe it was 7:45?) . We try to keep things simple though, so they were out of there before 11:00! Mom and I cleaned as they went, Dad and Jon packed the suburban and trailer, and Gromit stayed in the car where it was safe :)
Afterwards, we had a nice brunch at Island Cafe and saw my parents off after a lovely 10 days with them. We came back, finished up the little bit of cleaning we had left, I got my haircut, we checked into our hotel for the night, and then hung out at Julie's for some last games of Biblios, Forbidden Island, and of course, Rummikub. And so concluded our final week in Oak Harbor and the best 2 1/2 years in the Northwest. Can't wait to get back in 2 1/2 more years!
