Abbotsford Escapades- Awesome August Part 2!

About a week after my parents left, we headed to the great north, Canada!  We went to Abbotsford to spend a couple of days with Leah and Matt.  We arrived Saturday and spent the afternoon walking along the Veddar River.   It was fun throwing sticks in the river for Gromit, and though there were still a few blackberries to enjoy, it was definitely already starting to get close to fall in B.C.  That night we watched a movie and enjoyed some frozen yogurt, a delicious new addition to Abbotsford.

The next day, we had some beautiful weather to enjoy a quick game of tennis.  Unfortunately for Gromit, their courts are a lot busier than Oak Harbor's, so he had to be tied to the fence while we played.  Kind of torturous for a ball playin pup to watch all those balls fly around and not be able to chase them, but he was definitely happier than being in a crate in a strange apartment, and we walked him home from the courts, so he quickly got over his tennis disappointment.    He was out of luck after his walk though, because we were then off to Vancouver for some sightseeing!

Specifically, we were headed Granville Island, which is full of little shops and open markets of fruits and vegetables and breads and all kinds of cafes and just random awesomeness.  Like an island version of Pike Place Market.  Plus, we got to take this awesome aqua bus to get there.   So we spent most of the day there, exploring shops, eating,  etc.  We hung out at home that night and then the next day they left early for work and we said our goodbyes.  We took a nice walk around Mill Lake before heading back across the border.  Gromit thoroughly enjoyed that, due to all the ducks and geese :)  On our way back home, we stopped in Birch Bay (the town, not the water park), for a quick visit with a buddy Rachel!  She was home for a visit from grad school in England, staying with her mom in this cute seaside neighborhood and we were able to have a nice chat and catch up.  ONE more stop at Jamba Juice for dinner and then we were home, briefly ... to be continued :)
