June

June involved a lot of driving.   Our first trip was a visit up to Abbottsford, BC to surprise my good friend Leah for her birthday.  See her reaction in the video, it was pretty priceless :) She's a good one to surprise.  Matt, her husband, had done a great job of arranging the whole thing.  She had no idea what the plans were for the day.  The four of us drove up to a place called Rolley Lake, where some of her other friends were waiting, as well as the fixings for a great BBQ.

We had a great time there at the park, eating, playing water balloon spoons, badminton, and other interesting games.  Luckily they don't live too far from us, less than 2 hours, so after a brief tour around Abbottsford and a walk around Mill Lake, we were back in the country by dinner time.

The next notable trip was down to Salem for Father's Day.  We spent Saturday afternoon around their house, walking the dogs and relaxing.  The next day we met Kenneth up in Portland for a Father's Day cruise down Colombia River (?) , which included a nice brunch.  We did some nice shopping afterwards, and then on Monday we hit the road again.  This time we were headed to Auburn for 2 weeks for camp meeting.  Not much to tell there.  Jon was helping out in the earliteen tent, so that meant corralling 50+ 12/13 year olds.  He gave a couple of mission talks everyday as well, and since the earliteen tent is the busiest, there were a lot of activities in the afternoon.   Monday they did a community service project, Tuesday they went to a family fun center for mini golf, laser tag, etc. ( I went too ), Wednesday they went to Sunset Lake, and Thursday they went to Wild Waves amusement park- of course I went to that one as well :)  During those couple of weeks, we attempted to help Gromit and Mister the cat become friends, which was semi-successful.  Similar attempts were made with Gromit and the chicken, with less than successful results.  :)
We did some nice hiking during those couple of weeks, and luckily were able to stay with Jon's parents instead of at the academy.  June was fun and very different schedule wise, but by the end of it we were ready to be home!
